The Seventh annual Selene Rendezvous will
once again be at historic Roche Harbor. We
anticipate at least 45 Selene’s will attend this
very popular event. Again this year we will
have two days of interesting classes, festive
parties, the ever popular “Trawler Crawl”, and
the grand finale awards banquet. We look forward to seeing all the
Selene enthusiasts at the Rendezvous.
This year we are very excited to announce the
“Bonus Day”. We will begin the event on
Thursday with a special offering for women
skippers. Capt. Patti Moore of Sea Sense will
be giving a “hands on” boat handling class for
women only. More details will be coming soon.
The Sponsor’s Tent will be open on Thursday
also.
We
have some incredible speakers planned this year
for the classes. Linda Lewis will make a
presentation on Saturday from 9:00 am to 12:30
on cruising the Inside Passage, a trip they have
made each year for the past seven years.
As
in previous years, registration will be on
Thursday the 24th. Friday and Saturday will
have classes from 8:30 – 1:00 with the popular
trawler crawl in the afternoon followed by the
docktail party hosted by the fabulous Ron and
Meagan Randall of Seacoast Marine Finance on
Friday and the awards dinner on Saturday.
Registration will be $25 per person. An
RSVP would be most appreciated by April 15th. We
look forward to seeing you there!!!!!!

Power Cruising
Magazine Sea Trials Selene 59 |
|
Power Cruising
Magazine Reviews the Selene 59 in it's Jan-Feb 2008
issue. "...The 59 is not simply a stretched
version of Selene 57 (reviewed in Power Cruising,
July/August 2005, page 74). Rather, it’s a new design
with a more rounded underbody, a slightly longer
waterline and a wider beam. Both boats weigh in around
50 tons loaded, but the 59 has a lower prismatic
coefficient (.67 instead of .73), which indicates a
greater concentration of immersed volume amidships and a
hull optimized for lower speed-to-length ratios.
One worthwhile
benefit of this redistribution of volume is a
full-headroom engine room — an area where the Selene 57
came up a bit short. And as long as the Selene 59 is
cruising at an S/L below about 1.1 (equivalent to 8.9
knots), its available bulbous bow is effective at
suppressing wave-making — saving fuel while
simultaneously improving seakindliness through pitch
damping." more... |

The Selene 40- Quality, Capability
& Value find Harmony |
|
PassageMaker Yachts, a Story by Bill Parlatore. Every boat tour has
its story: interesting people, unusual surroundings, and
encounters that take me where I never imagined. In my
book, the tale behind my tour of the Selene 40 ranks up
there with the best of them, with twists and turns and
unexpected connections. The story began four years ago
when I visited Jet-Tern Marine with Ted Hood, Brian
Calvert, Alex Marcus, and John Clayman and we stepped
aboard the first hull of the just-launched Selene 36
trawler. The boat, while good looking and with a
traditional layout...
